We offer bespoke training programmes for both Chinese and UK audiences. Each training programme is unique and tailored to the requirements of the beneficiaries. Example trainings include:

  • China’s political and economic system and working with China
  • Criminal justice best practice
  • Understanding English Common Law in theory and practice
  • Understanding the UK’s political and legal system in practice
  • Specialist commercial law topics, such as insolvency law

We work with a range of professional bodies, legal institutional and university partners to ensure beneficiaries have access to high quality trainers with both practical and academic expertise, drawn from government, Parliament, the judiciary and legal professions. Typical GBCC training programmes may involve classroom learning and research combined with site visits and work shadowing. Training can form part of a multi-year project or may be a specialist request.

Previous training programmes for Chinese audiences include supporting the delivery of the Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme in partnership with SOAS, University of London and the Chinese Supreme People’s Court. The scheme provided selected Chinese judges the opportunity to study for an LLM and undertake bespoke training in the English legal system. GBCC has also been commissioned to facilitate training for members of the Chinese judiciary in the form of short term fellowships in partnership with selected UK universities. Recent training fellowships in partnership with the University of Oxford Law faculty have been on insolvency law and commercial dispute resolution.

We can be commissioned to develop bespoke trainings for policy-makers, private sector clients and third-sector organisations engaging with China.
