Crowdfunding Workshop 2015

On Thursday 22nd October 2015, GBCC organised a crowdfunding workshop for the Shanghai Free Trade Zone focusing on ‘Crowdfunding Market and Regulations in China and UK’.  Professor YANG Dong, Deputy Dean, Renmin University of China Law School, Mr Peter Baeck, Principal Researcher, Public and Social Innovation, Policy and Research Unit, Nesta and Mr Conor Roche, Associate Director, BOP China were invited to be keynote speakers.  Professor YANG Dong gave an overview of crowdfunding regulations in China. Mr Peter Baeck introduced crowdfunding market and regulations in the UK based on his recent extensive research report. Mr Conor Roche presented a case study – Reminova, which will set up an equity crowdfunding platform in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone in November 2015.  The workshop was well attended by regulators (Bank of China, China Banking Regulatory Commission and China Securities Regulatory Commission), alternative finance academics, think tanks, lawyers and crowdfunding associations.
