The Great Britain-China Educational Trust awards Chinese language scholarships, normally up to £2,000 each.

Applicants should be British and normally resident in the UK. The awards are given for the study of Chinese language in Britain or East Asia. Students already in receipt of a local authority award, British Council scholarship, or a BACS Taiwan Scholarship will not be considered. The Trustees are keen to encourage school teachers to apply; those wishing to teach Chinese language in UK schools. Please read the guidelines below.

UK nationality postgraduates wishing to apply for grants to give conference papers in China should use the The Chinese Students Awards application form www.gbbc.org.uk/staward.htm.

Important note - as of 2007, the Trustees consider Language Award applications twice a year, an increase from once a year. Also, the number of awards granted at each meeting is now at the Trustees discretion - previously limited to up to two people per year.

The deadline for the next application is Monday 27 October 2008. The next meeting date is Wednesday 26 November 2008.

Application forms can be downloaded from the GBCC web pages, or by post from the Great Britain-China Centre. Phone 44 (0)20 7235-6696, ask for Ping or say that it is a Trust enquiry, or email trust @ gbcc.org.uk, 15 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8PS, UK.
