Judicial Dialogues & Cooperation

GBCC coordinates judicial engagement between the UK and China, as the partner of choice for the UK Supreme Court and Chinese Supreme People’s Court.

Central to our judicial engagement work is the annual UK-China Judicial Roundtable, which brings together senior judges from both countries to develop better understanding of each other’s judicial system through sharing experiences and best practice.

GBCC also works with the Supreme People's Court and local courts in China to strengthen the professionalism and independence of judges.

Over 14 years, GBCC’s work in this area has contributed to the creation of a country-wide network of UK-trained judges in China. Many alumni of our training programmes have been promoted to very senior positions since returning to China, and continue to be an excellent source of support for GBCC’s work in all project areas.
