The rise of China in a globalised world has made it more urgent than ever to build links. With over 30 years of experience of engagement with China, the Great Britain-China Centre is well-placed to help develop relations across a wide range of issues, meeting the priorities of a rapidly changing China and enabling UK organisations to engage effectively and professionally with Chinese counterparts. We offer a competitive service to help build partnerships for organisations and institutions, facilitating effective dialogue with Chinese government, society and business to provide direct delivery of policy objectives.
Leadership Forum 2009
Sponsored by

Together with the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, the Great Britain-China Centre has developed the "Leadership Forum" bringing together rising political figures from both sides to discuss and debate strategic issues facing both countries. The first meeting was held at Ditchley Park in November 2007. The second meeting was held in Beijing. The next meeting is in the UK in September 2009 and is again generously supported by BP, Rolls-Royce, and Barclays Capital.
Other partners with whom we work:
Parliamentary We act as the secretariat to the
All Party Parliamentary Group for China, facilitating regular exchanges between the APPCG and the National People's Congress.
Police We have assisted the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and other UK police forces to develop their relationship with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security arranging policy seminars and developing a programme of exchanges.
Prosecutors
We support the UK Crown Prosecution Service and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (China) in developing mutual exchange and co-operation.
Trade Unions Over the last ten years the Great Britain-China Centre has helped cultivate the relationship between the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in the UK and the All China Federation of Trade Unions. We now support regular exchanges as well as assisting sectoral unions with their relationships with Chinese counterparts. We assisted the most recent visit by the TUC General Secretary to Beijing and Liaoning in November 2007.
Academic Many of our projects bring together academic institutions from the UK, European Union and China, which often develop into deeper, long-lasting co-operation. In particular, we are able to facilitate the crucial early stages of those relationships.
Think tanks We organise research visits and exchanges between think tanks in the UK and China. Activities can range from identifying potential contacts, designing and delivering single visits, to developing longer term relationships.
